To be a qualified applicant for a grant under the Scholarship Program, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  • Our Scholarship Program

  • Reside in Arizona or Nevada
  • Demonstrate economic need for the grant
  • Submit a confidential application form created by the selection committee
  • Be enrolled, or able to enroll, in a college or university located in Nevada or Arizona that qualifies as an educational institution as defined by the Internal Revenue Code
  • Demonstrate his or her commitment to volunteer service in community programs that assist individuals with socioeconomic backgrounds similar to that of the applicant
  • Break the Chain Foundation will continue overseeing the scholarship program and will make arrangements to receive reports of the students' courses and grades or progress reports of the students' work at least once a year to determine whether the scholarship recipients have performed the activities that the foundation intended to finance.

  • The purpose of Break the Chain Foundation's mentoring program is to support and strengthen our scholarship recipients so they can be encouraged to reach their full potential and give back to the community.
  • The basis of Break the Chain’s Mentoring Program is character, socialization, and leadership development.
  • Our mentoring Program is community-based and structured.
  • The program will offer our scholars the chance to develop a relationship with one or more adults, other than parents and teachers, who will become friends, role models and advocates for them.
  • Once we identify our scholarship recipients, we pair them up with an adult in the community who communicates with them weekly.
  • We consider the mentoring program to be complementary to our scholarship initiative.  Both programs support one another in investing in the minds of under served youth and focusing on community outreach.

We need the talents of committed people like you to help us tackle the problems facing our community. Your time and contributions mean a great deal to us, but even more to the young people who are directly impacted.
