About Break the Chain Foundation
"Through education and volunteerism, we can break the chain of limitations set by difficult family and financial situations. Our scholars will experience the freedom to explore unlimited possibilities." ~ Mike Olson
Break the Chain was founded in 2008 by Mike "Oly" Olson. Mike has served in leadership positions in youth programs for over 18 years. He strongly believes that education is essential in breaking down barriers to success and happiness. Break the Chain Foundation is committed to making higher education a reality for Arizona and Nevada’s high potential students who simply cannot afford the cost.
Our Mission
Break the Chain Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to enhance and improve the lives of Arizona and Nevada's economically challenged youth by providing scholarships for higher education and promoting leadership and goodwill.
Our Vision
We envision a society where all children will have the opportunity to pursue higher education and to fully capitalize on their talents and leadership to better their own lives, while impacting their family and future generations.
Break the Chain identifies students in Nevada and Arizona whose drive and desire for a better life are blocked only by their family and financial situations. These students are provided four-year scholarships to in-state colleges and required to serve in community and volunteer programs throughout their college years.
It is our hope and belief that as we empower these young men and women through the gift of education, they will be a light in their family, communities, and an example for all to follow.
